Jim Shulman brings over thirty years of experience to his commercial real estate practice. His expertise is in all aspects of commercial real estate development including acquisition and sale of shopping centers, office and apartment buildings, permitting and zoning, and leasing. Among his varied professional experience, Jim has served as executive vice president and general counsel to Ahold Real Estate Company, which at that time was the US real estate subsidiary of Royal Ahold of the Netherlands (operator of Stop & Shop and Giant supermarkets in the United States.)
Jim has represented Ahold USA in the divestiture of numerous properties and leases in connection with its acquisition of the Stop & Shop Supermarket companies. He has been counsel to national hotel operators in the negotiation of leases with national and regional restaurant chains for locations within their hotels. He has negotiated leases and related documents with numerous national and regional retail tenants including Bed Bath & Beyond, Best Buy, Marshalls, Old Navy, Barnes & Noble, Wal-Mart, Home Depot, Lowe’s, Target, Office Depot, Staples, CVS, Walgreens, and Stop & Shop and Giant Supermarkets.
